Smooth Elm-leaf Goldenrod

Solidago delicatula Small is similar to S. ulmifolia, but is essentially glabrous (except for leaf margins) with smaller, more numerous, less conspicuously veiny leaves (Semple & Cook 2006 FNA). It is native to sandy and alluvial soils of dry open woods and banks of shaded creeks in the western portion of the southeastern U.S., with a few scattered disjunct populations further east.  The species is diploid 2n=18.

The species has been treated as Solidago ulmifolia Muhl. var. microphylla A. Gray.
