Code Squad Camp is a highlight event for girls entering Grade 10 and 11 in the summer. This one week, overnight program creates a close-knit community of like-minded individuals working together to expand their knowledge of computer science and software development while preparing for a future career in any field.
When is it?
Code Squad Camp will occur from July 15- 19, 2019 with an awards night held on Friday, July 19th, 2019
What to expect
This camp is a 5 day, action-packed with workshops, mentors, workplace visits, and fun outings.
Workshops: Expand your computational thinking skills through hands-on workshops. Learn more about app development, hardware, data processing, and prototyping.
Field trips: Meet local experts and find out how computer science has made a difference in their lives. Discover the variety of careers, the amazing things software engineers do each day!
Coding Challenges: As with most new skills, becoming a proficient coder takes practice. The Code Squad Coding challenges will ask you to apply the knowledge gained at the in-person events.
Included Meals and Overnight accommodations at St. Paul's College: The fun doesn't have to stop because the sun has gone down! Yummy meals, recreational activities, and a place to stay (supervised hotel accommodation) are all included! All participants will be paired up in double occupancy rooms.
Successful applicants will receive a detailed information package including packing list and pick-up/drop-off times.
You do not need to bring a personal laptop to the program; we will provide all the necessary materials.
Who is this for?
Code Squad is for girls going into grade 10 or 11. Male students or those entering other grades are invited to sign-up for a notification when the program is expanded.
The Code Squad program has no pre-requisites. If you managed to find this web page, this program is for you! New participants are welcome to get more coding experience at Go CODE Girl.
Costs
Successful applicants will be asked to pay a registration fee of $309.74 (+HST) (includes overnight accommodations and meals).
We believe that everyone who has been offered a spot at camp should have the opportunity to attend! A bursary program is available for those in financial need. Please contact us for more details.
Please note: The registration fee is due only upon acceptance into the conference. If accepted, applicants will receive an email which provides information about registration and paying the registration fee. There is no application fee for this program.

Catalyst accepts MasterCard, VISA and American Express as well as Debit cards (non-Interac). Card numbers are kept with the utmost security. All charges are processed directly by the university and will appear on your credit card bill as either "U of W Cashiers Office" or "U of Waterloo ESQ (Engineering Science Quest)".
We do not accept cash or cheque payment.
Credit Card and debit payment must be made through our online registration system, we are not able to process payment on the phone or in person.

This conference has a limited capacity. For this reason, we require an application to be completed and submitted for acceptance.

The purpose of this challenge is to try your hand at coding and get an introductory experience. There are two parts to this challenge. You can pick one or do both! This is a great way to demonstrate your commitment to the program and secure a spot for yourself at the Code Squad Camp. We're not assessing your proficiency just that you're interested and have tried at least one of the tasks!
