What is it?
- Engages high school students (finished grade 9 or higher as of July 2026) that have an interest in volunteer experience with Engineering Science Quest
- Builds leadership skills through group problem-solving, insight into our program development and delivery, and first-hand experience working with children
- Includes attending two mandatory training sessions (Thursday, July 2nd and Friday, July 3rd) and volunteer placement in an ESQ camp!
- Placement week is valid for completing volunteer service hours (approx. 40 hours)
- Option to sign up for multiple placement weeks if interested
*This program runs in-person and is not an overnight program.
2026 Details
- Application-based program; students must apply and be accepted into the program before registering.
- Applications open December 16th and will remain open until February 27th.
- All applicants will be informed if they have been accepted into the program by the week of April 6th.
- Registration fee (2026 fee is $32+HST); Includes one participant T-shirt. *Bursary applications are available
- Registration fee is due only upon acceptance into the program
- Placement week(s) available in July and August 2026*; selected after you receive your acceptance (you will receive more details through an acceptance email)
- This program is not an overnight program
Application
Applications must include:
- ESQ LIT Application Form
The LIT Application Form will gather basic contact information and will ask questions about your interest in the program and what you hope to learn by participating in the program.
Successful LIT applicants will receive offers via email during the week of April 6th. Successful applicants will have 72 hours to accept their offer and register for their placement sections. Please note a minimum of one placement week is required for registration, with the option of adding more as the summer progresses.
Expectations
Engineering Outreach is committed to providing a positive and supportive environment for all participants of our summer programs. If an LIT's behavior becomes disruptive or inappropriate in the camp room, they will be removed from the program. Only the volunteer hours completed prior to the removal will be signed off on.
