After School Clubs

WiE after-school clubs are 4-week-long programs for girls and non-binary youth. Participants will explore a variety of STEM topics through hands-on activities. Explore new technology, design and build solutions to unique problems, and improve your coding skills, all while connecting with new friends during this in-person program! High school students will get the opportunity to explore engineering labs and meet current graduate students.  No prior experience is required, and new content is developed each term, making repeat participation welcome and encouraged.

We are excited to offer free cheese and halal pepperoni pizza each week at the club. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate additional dietary needs.

Dates:

    Grades 2-4: Thursday evenings, October 15th-November 5th

    Grades 5-7: Thursday evenings, November 19th-December 10th

    Grades 9-12: Wednesday evenings, September 30th-October 21st

This program is a FREE and exciting opportunity for those in Grade 7-10, including all youth who identify as girls or non-binary, to learn about the wonderful world of engineering. Meet current engineering students, learn about some of the amazing things women engineers are doing, and participate in a hands-on STEM activity! Parents/guardians will also have the opportunity to tour Engineering buildings on campus and attend an Engineering Admissions Information Session.

We are excited to offer free cheese and halal pepperoni pizza during this workshop. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate additional dietary needs.

This year, we are pleased to offer FREE Parking Passes for the duration of the event to parents/guardians who would like to stay and attend the Admissions Information Session. As always, complimentary Parking Passes will be available for drop-off and pick-up times as well.

Girl Guide Badge Day Saturday, November 28th

Girl Guide Badge Day

Girl Guides (ages 9-11) are invited to the University of Waterloo Campus to earn a badge awarded by Ontario Network of Women in Engineering (ONWIE). Complete all the requirements through fun and interactive activity stations led by university students and staff. In addition to earning a badge, the guides will also engage with inspiring mentors at each station who can share their university experience. New content is developed each term, making repeat participation welcome and encouraged.

Cost: Free for Girl Guide Units (ages 9-11)

WiE Holiday Ornament Making Wednesday, December 2nd

WiE Holiday Ornament Workshop

Get creative and bring your ideas to life in this holiday hands-on workshop! Girls and non-binary students in grades 6-8 will learn the basics of 3D design and create a custom holiday ornament. They’ll also discover how 3D printing works and see their designs brought to life as a finished ornament they can take home. This workshop offers a fun introduction to digital design and additive manufacturing while exploring the intersection of creativity, technology, and engineering.
