After School Clubs

WiE after-school clubs are 4-week-long programs for girls and non-binary youth. Participants will explore a variety of STEM topics through hands-on activities. Explore new technology, design and build solutions to unique problems, and improve your coding skills, all while connecting with new friends during this in-person program! High school students will get the opportunity to explore engineering labs and meet current graduate students. No prior experience is necessary! For those who attended our Winter 2025 clubs, the activities will be different, so please feel free to join us for Fall 2025!

We are excited to offer free cheese and halal pepperoni pizza each week at the club. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate dietary needs.

Dates:

          Grades 2-4: Thursday evenings, October 2nd-23rd

          Grades 5-7: Thursday evenings, November 6th-27th

          Grades 9-12: Wednesday evenings, September 24th-October 15th

Time: 5:30-7:30pm

This program is a FREE and exciting opportunity for those in Grade 7–10, including all youth who identify as girls or non-binary, to learn about the wonderful world of engineering. Meet current engineering students, learn about some of the amazing things women engineers are doing, and participate in a hands-on STEM activity! Parents/guardians will also have the opportunity to tour Engineering buildings on campus and attend an Engineering Admissions Information Session.

Light breakfast snacks will be provided.

Date: Saturday, October 18th

Time: 9am-12pm

Location: Engineering 7, University of Waterloo, Waterloo campus

Cost: Free for girls and non-binary youth in grades 7-10

Girl Guide Badge Day

Girl Guides (Ages 9-11) are invited to the University of Waterloo Campus to earn a badge awarded by Ontario Network of Women in Engineering (ONWIE). Complete all the requirements through fun and interactive activity stations led by university students and staff. In addition to earning a badge, the guides will also engage with inspiring mentors at each station who can share their university experience.

Date: Saturday, November 15th

Time: Tentative 9:00am-1:00pm

Location: University of Waterloo, Waterloo Campus, Engineering 7 building

Cost: Free for Girl Guide Units (ages 9-11)

*Note: Only Girl Guide Unit Leaders can submit unit registration forms. If you are a parent who is interested in the event, please ask your local Girl Guide group for more information. 

Holiday Ornament workshop poster

WiE Holiday Ornament Workshop

Get creative and bring your ideas to life in this holiday hands-on workshop! Girls and non-binary students in grades 6–8 will learn the basics of 3D design and create a custom holiday ornament. In addition to designing their ornaments, they will learn about 3D printing and have their design printed for use this holiday season. This workshop combines creativity, technology, and engineering to give students a fun introduction to digital design and additive manufacturing.
