Enterprise Co-op (E Co-op) alum Humza Ahmed is building the future of home appraisals with Automax.ai, an AI-powered platform that uses computer vision and LiDAR technology to streamline the appraisal process.

Ahmed credits Waterloo’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, including Velocity and the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business, with providing critical support early in his journey.

What the Waterloo ecosystem helped with was being great connectors and introducing me to the right people at every stage.

He first discovered entrepreneurship through Conrad School’s E Co-op program, encouraged by the late Dr. Wayne Chang, then director of E Co-op. Without a startup idea when he entered the program, Ahmed took an experimental approach, working directly with local businesses to develop custom AI solutions and learning through doing.

That early experience helped lay the foundation for his entrepreneurial path. Today, Automax.ai has raised $5 million to advance its technology and transform how homes are assessed.

Ahmed’s journey demonstrates how opportunities to experiment, build and learn through entrepreneurship can help Waterloo students turn curiosity into ventures with real-world impact.
