Student Teams Compete in the Problem Lab’s Problem Pitch Competition Finals

Problem Pitch Competition

The Problem Lab’s Problem Pitch Competition Finals, hosted and sponsored by the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business, is set to showcase innovative student-driven solutions to pressing global challenges.

The competition, set to take place on Friday, April 4 at 12:15 pm, focuses on solving significant issues through research and entrepreneurial efforts and offers a grand prize of $7,500 to the team that demonstrates the most in-depth understanding of their selected, impactful problem.

The most transformative breakthroughs come from deeply understanding the problem first.

Finalists Announced

Four standout student teams have made it to the finals of the competition:
  • ArcticEdge Technologies – D. Davidson, Engineering and K. Truman, MBET
  • BeeBuddy – K. Borowski, Environment and S. Rezaei, Engineering
  • MonoPoly – J. Yao, A. Rauliuk, N. Carpan, and A. Saggu, Engineering
  • ReVolt – A. Koushki, Engineering

Judges Panel

These finalists will present their research to a panel of judges.
  • Sheldon Fernandez – AI Strategist, former CEO at DarwinAI, and Engineering Alumni
  • Kyle Faller – CEO and Founder at Intelline, former Problem Pitch winner, and Engineering Alumni
  • Monica Tsang – Former Problem Pitch winner and Master’s student in Systems Design Engineering

We believe that the Problem Lab and the Quantum Valley Investments Problem Pitch Competition will encourage students to focus on fully understanding a problem before venturing to solve it, and will lead to better ideas and strategies for new businesses. We expect the program to grow over time and play an important role in the University’s, the region’s, and Canada’s innovation ecosystem.
