Parking fees are suspended

Update for employees

During this period of extreme disruption to our normal way of life, we suspended parking fees for the month of April.

You do not need to take any action. Payroll services will not deduct parking fees from your April pay.

Thank you for your help in supporting our community and country

Over the last weeks, our University has moved into action to help contain the spread of COVID-19 with changes to our ways of working. Many of you have also contributed efforts to help health-care workers in Waterloo region and in Canada.

At Waterloo we’re offering our skills, time and resources to help health-care practitioners, governments, public health officials and industry to slow the spread of coronavirus and support front line health-care workers.

To help stop the spread of COVID-19, we made the important decision to proceed with Spring Term 2020 with no in-person course activity. This means that we will hold all classes and exams online.

To prepare for the alternative delivery of courses, we have revised some important dates to the Spring Term.

Locking of buildings and essential services

As you know, most campus buildings are now locked. Only a small number of buildings remain open for student access.

Employees who are performing critical functions and require access to their workspace must receive approval from their department head and ensure the necessary key/fob access is available.

Month end P-Card extension

Update for employees

Finance is issuing the following guidance on March 15, 2020 P-Card expense coding and related P-Card approvals due to COVID-19. 

P-Card transactions incurred up until March 15, 2020 must have their coding and approval completed by end of day on March 31st. Typically, coding is locked down the 25th of each month, however, this month’s deadline has been extended.

Senate approved motions on CR/NCR use for W2020 numeric grades

Update for faculty and course instructors

Course instructors can elect to use CR or NCR in place of numeric grades for Winter Term 2020 if they judge that they do not have enough information to give numeric grades.

Students will be able to ask to convert numeric grades to CR or NCR for a specific period after the end of Winter Term.
