Award type:
Scholarships
Award description:
The scholarship, valued at $5,000 will be awarded annually to a master's graduate student registered fullÂtime in in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo who received their undergraduate degree from the University of Waterloo or Conestoga College. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduate student in their first year on the basis of scholastic excellence and demonstrated leadership. Preference will be given to a student who holds an Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) or another major external scholarship that requires a matching or enhancement component. If the match or enhancement becomes unavailable or a suitable recipient cannot be found, the funds will be paid out as a regular graduate scholarship. Interested students must apply by completing the Iron Ring Graduate Scholarship application form, including an attached CV.
The application must be submitted to the Faculty of Engineering Department Scholarship Coordinator in July of each year. This scholarship has been established by the Camp 15 Iron Ring Wardens.
Note about "matching": The OGS and QEII-GSST programs are jointly funded by the Province of Ontario and the postsecondary institution, where the Province contributes 2/3 of the award value and the remainder 1/3 comes from institutional funds which can be paid through donor-funded awards, including this one. This donor funding may not necessarily be in excess of what students have already received via the OGS or QEII-GSST, but rather assists the University in paying its required contribution. For further information regarding this, please contact the Associate Director, Graduate Financial Aid and Awards in GSPA at hmussar@uwaterloo.ca.
