Award description:
A scholarship valued at $5,000 will be provided to a full-time domestic graduate student entering first year of the doctoral program in any department in the Faculty of Engineering. Selection to be based on academic excellence and the student’s application for admission; particular attention will be given to the student’s goals and objectives for their graduate studies, and any notable accomplishments from previous post-secondary degrees that demonstrate their qualifications or potential. The Faculty of Engineering Graduate Studies Office will make the final selection each spring term. This fund is made possible by a donation from Teresa Howe in memory of her husband, Thomas Howe BASc ’74 Engineering alumnus.

Eligibility & selection criteria

  • Full-time domestic graduate students entering first year of the doctoral program in any department in the Faculty of Engineering 
  • Selection to be based on academic excellence (minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent) and their application for admission to the program; particular attention will be given to: 
    • Their goals and objectives for their graduate studies 
    • Notable accomplishments from their undergraduate or master’s studies that demonstrate their qualifications or potential 
  • Each department will submit one nomination for Faculty consideration by April 30th each year 
  • The Faculty of Engineering Graduate Studies Office will make the final selection each Spring for Fall admission.
