Abstract
In this seminar, a small-scale standalone wind energy conversion system composed of a squirrel-cage induction generator, a buck converter, a current-source inverter, and a novel storage integration scheme is presented. The mathematical non-linear model of the system is developed and verified by simulation. A linearized model of the system is developed around an operating point, and open-loop stability, controllability, and observability of the system are investigated. A reduced-order model of the linearized model is obtained based on direct deletion and DC-gain matching techniques. The dynamic and steady-state performances of the reduced-order models, obtained based on the two order-reduction techniques, are evaluated with respect to the original model.
