Wojciech Golab

Professor Golab
Wojciech Golab joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as an Assistant Professor in September 2012, and is interested in distributed computing. Upon completing his B.Sc. at the University of Toronto in 2002, he was awarded the Governor General's silver academic medal. He then received a M. Math degree from the University of Waterloo in 2004, and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in 2010. In 2010 he joined the University of Calgary as a post-doctoral fellow, and later moved to Hewlett-Packard Labs in Palo Alto, where he spent two years as a research engineer in distributed storage. Guoxing Miao

Professor Miao
Guoxing Miao joined the ECE Department as an Assistant Professor in September 2012. He received his B.Sc. from Shandong University, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Brown University. He was a Research Scientist at MIT prior to joining University of Waterloo first at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) in 2011, then at the ECE department in 2012. He will remain cross-appointed with IQC. Professor Miao's research interests lie in spintronics, using precise electron spin manipulation for information processing. His research effort has strong emphasis on newly emerging spin platforms, such as synthetic diamonds and topological insulators, where information can be processed coherently on the quantum level, rather than digitally on the classical level. To lean more about Professor Miao, please visit his profile page.
