The Silver certification process was a transformative one for the Library – from negotiating changes in leadership to how it addressed the process overall. Staff from all library departments were involved in an intensive period of investigation, analysis, recommendations, communications and improvements. The process enacted significant changes that will be evident in the everyday operations of the Library, and will guide how it moves forward. Some tangible changes include: defining and publishing service standards, clarifying and consolidating human resources-related materials, revising and documenting onboarding processes, and numerous training opportunities for staff on process mapping, project management and facilitation.

The process also identified additional opportunities for growth and improvement. These opportunities are being rolled into the Library’s multi-annual planning and priorities process to keep up the momentum built by employees’ efforts during the Silver process, as the University moves towards Gold.
