The Cryospheric Science Group of the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change (IC³) is pleased to welcome Dr. Niina Luus, of the Dublin Institute of Technology, to present her research at our seminar this month.  Her presentation is entitled:

“Arctic photosynthesis captured by satellite-observed solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence”

Her presentation is entitled:

“Monitoring ice phenology and bedfast ice in lakes of the Lena River Delta using TerraSAR-X backscatter and coherence time series”

“Mapping snow depth and snowmelt conditions using Unmanned Aerial Systems in Arctic-Tundra environments”

The Cryospheric Science Group of the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change (IC³) is pleased to welcome MSc candidate Phil Mann, of Wilfrid Laurier University, to present his research at our seminar this month.  His presentation is entitled:

"High resolution spatial variability of snow depth and water equivalent across a patchy tundra, forest and shrub landscape"

The aim of the workshop is to focus on assimilation of remotely-sensed data on lake surface state in pre-operational Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) for improvement of the weather forecast in the Canadian Global Environmental Multi-scale Model (GEM). This workshop will provide an opportunity to identify the gaps in current NWP models and how these could be addressed in future.

"Voices" is an annual charity event organised by the Global Issues club at Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School, in Waterloo. The event will be held from 6:30-8:30pm on Wednesday May 31st in the school's main auditorium, with various guest speakers and videos geared toward promoting awareness of a specific world issue. This year the focus is climate change.

"Voices" is an annual charity event organised by the Global Issues club at Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School, in Waterloo. The event will be held from 6:30-8:30pm on Wednesday May 31st in the school's main auditorium, with various guest speakers and videos geared toward promoting awareness of a specific world issue. This year the focus is climate change. Chris Fletcher (GEM) will be speaking about the science of climate change, and how computer models are used to make forecasts of Earth's climate future in the year 2100. All proceeds will be donated to the World Wildlife Fund.
