MSc Opportunity: Water Quality Research

Applications are invited for an MSc studentship specializing in the subject area of hydrological and/or biogeochemical dynamics in agricultural systems in Manitoba. We are investigating the use of water retention ponds to reduce flooding and nutrient losses from agricultural watersheds to reduce water quality issues in Lake Winnipeg. We are particularly interested in the investigation of the dominant hydrologic and biogeochemical flowpaths for phosphorus losses (surface runoff, tile drainage) during the spring runoff period. This project is a collaboration among the University of Waterloo, University of Manitoba and the Manitoba Conservation Districts Association.
