  1. Nov. 18, 2019“No GUID” message when logging into WCMS sites - November 18

    What is happening? An issue when logging into WCMS sites may cause an error message “No GUID for username…” to appear. IST is aware of the issue and is investigating.  

    What is the impact? This issue may prevent some users from accessing certain types of authenticated web forms or authentication-required web sites when the message appears. Affected users may find that clearing the browser cache and trying to log in again will work, as the problem is intermittent.

  2. Nov. 18, 2019Office 365 ProPlus – Autosave/Repair

    What is happening? Some instances of Office 365 ProPlus did not deploy properly and require a Repair. The issue has been fixed for future deployments.
     
    What do users need to do? If you do not see an ‘Autosave’ toggle () in the top-left of your Microsoft Word window:

    Note: this will take 10-20 minutes to complete. 

    1. Close your Office 365 ProPlus apps (e.g. Outlook, Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype, Teams, etc.).
    2. Click on the Windows 'Start' button in the bottom left of your Windows screen.
    3. Type 'Software Center', then click on the Software Centre app when it appears in your menu.
    4. Find the Office 365 ProPlus icon ( and click to open.
    5. Click on the 'Repair' button. Then click 'Ok'. This process will take 10-20 minutes. 
    6. Once complete, you will see an Installation Complete notification at the bottom right of your screen. This will flash for ~1-2 seconds. Then you will see a ‘Licensed – Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus’ window that shows ‘Status: Installed’.
    7. Restart your computer.
    8. Recreate Taskbar shortcuts for your Office apps (if desired). 
    9. Reinstall Visio and Project from the Software Center app if previously installed.

     

  3. Nov. 12, 2019Extra! Extra! Read all about IT!

    What is happening? Individuals can now subscribe to receive IT service announcements, maintenance/outage details, and other related messages from IST’s Communication team, directly to their inbox. 

    About these messages: Communications from IST are generally published in the Daily Bulletin, posted to the IST website and social channels (Twitter and Facebook), and shared via email with faculty and administrative support units through IT support representatives and service desk contacts.  

    The topics of these messages vary, but may include IT service updates, planned or unplanned maintenance/outages, IT event and consultation opportunities, and new communication resources (e.g. websites). By subscribing to the ist-news@lists.uwaterloo.ca mailman list, individuals will receive these messages via email; subscribers will not be able to choose the types of messages they wish to receive. 

    Please note, this mail list is meant to be a new option for those that are not already subscribed to an IT mailing list (e.g. isthd, admin-support, faccus, etc.).
