  1. Dec. 9, 2019Workday and Quest moving to ADFS authentication, will support single sign-on - Dec 11
    What is happening? 
    • Workday and Quest will be moving to Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) authentication. ADFS is the recommended authentication service for campus.
    • Moving to ADFS will enable these systems to support single sign-on, a service that provides a secure method of accessing multiple web-based systems and applications without being required to log in to each one. Visit the IST Single sign-on website to learn more.
    When is this happening? Wednesday, December 11.
    What do users need to do? When logging into Workday or Quest:
    • On the Sign in page, enter your watiam-userid@uwaterloo.ca and click Next
    • If prompted to choose an account, choose ‘Work or school account’
    • Enter your WatIAM password
    • If you have opted in to two-factor authentication (2FA), or are a Human Resources/Quest administrator, you will receive a 2FA authentication prompt.

  2. Dec. 3, 2019Scantron end-of-life - January 30, 2020

    What is happening? Effective January 30, 2020, the IST Scantron machine will no longer be available for use. Scantron appointments can be booked up to and including this date.  

    To book a Scantron appointment: The online appointment booking form will only be available until January 29, 2020 as appointments require advance notice, https://uwaterloo.ca/information-systems-technology/scantron-card-processing-appointment-booking. Appointments will not be accepted after January 30. 

    What is the impact? As communicated throughout the spring and fall terms, Akindi is the new centrally supported multiple-choice exam processing tool and its full roll out will occur over the winter 2020 term.  

    What is Akindi? An easy-to-use service that allows you to create and grade assessments using regular paper and any scanner. Where you once used Scantron for multiple-choice assessments, you can now use Akindi. Visit the Akindi website to learn more, https://uwaterloo.ca/akindi. 

    Upcoming Akindi training sessions: There will be two live webinar-based training sessions in January 2020. Participants can register to join in person or use the Zoom link on the Akindi website to join from your office or home.

  3. Dec. 3, 2019Request Tracker (RT) upgrade and downtime – December 5

    What is happening? The Request Tracker (RT) system will be upgraded from version 4.4.3 to 4.4.4.

    What is the impact? The RT system may be unavailable during the maintenance window.
    When is this happening? Thursday, December 5 from 7:00 – 7:30 a.m.
    Note: Any email sent to the system will be queued and processed when the RT system is back up.
