Precision Measurements with 31P Nuclear Spins in Isotopically Enriched 28Si
31P nuclear spins in isotopically enriched 28Si have long coherence times and are a sensitive probe into their environment. As a result, they have been proposed as candidates for quantum sensing applications such as magnetometry and gyroscopes. In this talk, I discuss experiments demonstrating their use in measuring defect ionization and photoneutralization rates under above-bandgap optical pumping. I also present preliminary results showing their sensitivity to hydrostatic strain and electric field (quadratic stark effect) and describe future experiments to measure quantities such as the hole hyperfine interaction and higher-order contributions to the hyperfine stark effect.
