Abstract
In this colloquium, I will provide a broad overview of the progresses accomplished so far towards the achievement of quantumness at the mesoscopic level, verging towards the macroscopic world. I will
concentrate explicitly on the example provided by massive mechanical oscillators coupled to light, so as to show that robust non-classicality in such a context is indeed achievable. I will finally draw a path that, in my opinion, would lead us to a scalable network of non-linearly coupled quantum nodes, which will offer unprecedented possibilities for quantum simulation a the study of complex quantum many-body phenomena.
