Alone Together

Restoring Connection in a Lonely Community

a set of drawings of people arranged in a triangle that spells alone. Below it says together

Loneliness is a universal human experience that we often misunderstand or go through without support. It can affect anyone and shows up as a disconnection from others in everyday life, even in the modern age of connection. This exhibit explores loneliness, how it shapes our experience of connection in communities, and our responses to loneliness and how they can contribute to dismantling our sense of belonging. We challenge visitors to reflect on their experiences of connection and to have a more empathetic understanding of themselves and others while engaging in healthy responses to loneliness. We’re asking: what does connection mean to you, and how can you better respond to loneliness?
