Can we change how we interact with each other and our planet by looking at values beyond the price tag?

The household is one of the basic units of economics. Yet in North America, households have pushed consumerism and individualism to unprecedented and dangerous levels. Many people feel caught in the grips of a money-focused world and the loss of community, while our ability to buy and sell anything and everything has become both a curse and a blessing. What can we do as individuals and communities to reverse the trend? Beyond The Dollar takes a look at prioritizing the more qualitative forms of value than the quantitative price tag approach, as one possible way. More concretely, we’ll look together through fun activities at emerging alternative economic practices and how they can help us connect with one another, improve our environmental impact, and lead to more fun and human well-being, taking the discussion about value out onto the streets of your community.
