INTEG 475 Special Topics: Creative Economies and Workers

Creativity is at the forefront of debates about education and public policy, and is increasingly considered a major driving force of 21st Century economies. For example, governments try to facilitate economic prosperity by growing and promoting creative industries, educational institutions see creativity as a necessary skill for students to have as they enter the labor market, and “do what you love” has become has become a mantra for a generation of young workers seeking creative jobs. In this course, we will examine this “rise of creativity.” Where did it come from and how does it impact the economy, workplaces, and everyday life?
