KI professor John McLevey supervised the Waterloo iGEM students in their project to map the collaboration network of teams that participated in the 2015 iGEM competition.

Following the analysis, they were able to generate a list of recommendations to improve knowledge and resource sharing, aiming to increase the quality of science in future competitions.  Dr. McLevey worked with both their Mathematical Modelling and Policy & Practices sub-teams to guide them through social networks research.  The image on this page is a visualization of the collaboration network.

The Waterloo iGEM student team represents the university in the International Genetically Engineered Machine competition which calls for projects surrounding synthetic biology.
