Thursday, April 13, 2017

Dr. John McLevey (co-investigator) has been awarded a new Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Insight Development Grant for the project "Making sense of climate action: Understanding social mobilization to curb anthropogenic climate change through advances in social network analysis" in the amount of $282,672.

The project, which is being lead by David Tindall at the University of British Columbia, will examine the relative importance of face-to-face networks and digital social network networks (e.g. Twitter) in mobilization for climate action. Specifically, the team will be focusing on mobilization into protests against oil and gas pipeline infrastructure expansion in Canada.
