INTEG 475 Special Topics: Decision Making Under (Deep) Uncertainty

Every day, decisions are made at a personal level (such as what apartment to rent), an organizational level (whether to recall a faulty product), and in the form of public policy. This course introduces decision analytic tools for systematically structuring messy problems to identify trade-offs among different decisions and how to explore them intelligibly. The limits of traditional analytic approaches will also be discussed, namely “deep uncertainty”, which arises in wicked problems spanning long time horizons that affect multiple stakeholders with conflicting values (such as the impacts of climate change).

Prerequisite: Knowledge Integration students should have completed (or be concurrently enrolled in) their statistics requirement.
