Dr. Sara Doody is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Knowledge Integration working with Dr. Katie Plaisance exploring philosophy-science collaborations and with Dr. Ashley Rose Mehlenbacher on climate change communication and rhetoric.

Sara’s research explores written communication practices in inter/transdisciplinary research contexts and how such teams navigate research writing across disciplines. She is especially interested in the kinds of tensions, contestations, and added demands that arise when disciplinary writing traditions interact.

Sara has a B.A. and M.A. in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies from Carleton University and earned her Ph.D. in Education from McGill University in 2020, where she explored writing practices and assumptions in interdisciplinary life sciences doctoral programs. Her work has been published in LEARNing Landscapes, Technical Communication Quarterly, and her paper published in Written Communication won the Doreen Starke-Meyerring Best Article Award from the Canadian Association for the Study of Discourse and Writing.
