The University of Waterloo Library is committed to maintaining the best possible support to our students, faculty, and staff. Many of the resources and services you rely on are available online, as is our expertise.
To access our online collections, make sure you log in to Get access from anywhere first (virtual private network is not needed).
Research guides by subject
Start with your subject specific research guide. These have carefully curated links to resources that will help you find the information you need, from research databases to book collections to data sources. Almost all are available online.
Journal articles, books and more
Explore our long list of research databases, which contain journal articles, reviews, news, standards, video and more.
The Library's catalogue, Omni, contains many books, journals, and articles that are accessible online. Also, certain publishers are providing wider access to their materials during this time. For more information please reach out to your librarian.
Local collections
If you are looking for more local digital collections, please try the Waterloo Digital Library, our online repository for sharing select items from the Library’s special and archival collections.
Resources beyond the Library
While Waterloo Reads is a physical collection, we encourage you to make use of your local public libraries’ extensive ebook offerings for leisure reading. You may also find some of the resources provided by Information Systems & Technology helpful, such as LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com) and the streaming video titles provided through the Media Resources Library.
Teaching and learning
Librarians are available to develop targeted instructional materials that align with your course using the technical solution you have adopted for online course delivery including LEARN, WebEx, and Microsoft Teams. Students may also use these course delivery platforms, or alternative options including Skype, to schedule individual consultations with their librarian. You may wish to consider including the contact information for your subject librarian within your course information or syllabus as students may be unaware such services are available, but in need of greater assistance.
