One of the most popular of the Kitchener YWCA's programmes was its camping activities. First operated on the banks of the Grand River near Bridgeport, "Camp Tinawatawa" moved to a site on Paradise Lake in 1926. Operated on land rented and later owned by the Kitchener-Waterloo Kiwanis Club, the facility was used by a variety of groups during the summer months.
This photo shows the first group of YWCA campers to use the Paradise Lake site for Camp Tinawatawa in 1926.
These girls are seated under a sign made of branches which spell out "YWCA." From the Huber Family Album, Courtesy Mrs. Helen Warner.
This clipping from the Kitchener-Waterloo Record describe camp life in 1924. At the time the camp was held in a site at Bridgeport on the Grand River.
