Lucy Liuxuan Zhang and Woobin Park will be performing the following pieces:

Sonata for Piano and Violin No. 1 in D Major, Op. 12, No. 1 (1797–98) by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827)

Sonata for Piano and Violin No. 2 in A Major, Op. 100 (1886) by Johannes Brahms (1833–1897)

Lucy Liuxuan Zhang is an impassioned violinist and mathematical physicist who has found tremendous inspiration and utility in balancing and pursuing her two careers.  She is currently employed by the University of Maryland to further her research in topological quantum computation and to explore the intersection between music and science, receiving multiple grants for her pioneering work on creating beautiful new music while sourcing inspirations from science, often from the frontiers of research, and in turn aiming to use this music to help enhance scientific communications, understanding and creativity in her audience and participants.
Dr. Woobin Park is an internationally acclaimed pianist known for her commanding stage presence and refined musicianship. She made her debut at Carnegie Hall to critical acclaim, where New York Concert Review praised her “brilliant performance, handling virtuosity with a beautiful sense of style.” She has performed extensively throughout the United States, France, and South Korea in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings at distinguished venues including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Terrace Theater at the John F. Kennedy Center, Steinway Hall, and Preston Bradley Hall at the Chicago Cultural Center.  She has appeared as a soloist with the Ukraine Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto and a Mozart concerto. 
Recent highlights include her performance of Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with AACC  orchestra at the Chesapeake Arts Center and her duo collaboration with violinist David Kim of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Her international career gained recognition after winning First Prize at the Los Angeles Liszt International Piano Competition, where she also received the award for Best Performance of Liszt’s Work.A native of Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Park earned her Master of Music and Performer’s Diploma from Indiana University Bloomington and completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Her performances have been broadcast nationally on WFMT, KSJN, and WBJC.
In addition to her performing career, Dr. Park is a dedicated educator and adjudicator. She has served as a judge for the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Competition and the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations National Piano Competition, and was invited to serve on the jury of the Asia International Piano Festival and Competition in 2025 and 2026. She currently serves as Director of Piano Studies and Associate Professor of Practice in Piano at Washington College 
where she teaches applied lessons, class piano, and has developed a course in piano pedagogy and literature.
