The Music program at University of Waterloo and Conrad Grebel University College is the next step in furthering your musical experience and preparing for careers such as music teaching, performance, music therapy, and recording.
Programs in Music
Instruction in over 20 instruments, including voice, is available to both majors and non-majors. Taking music as an Arts degree, allows you to benefit from UWaterloo’s world class co-op program and study the relationship between music and other disciplines such as psychology, technology, peace, and film. A joint-honours degree means that music can be combined with any other faculty, providing even more study options.
Entrance Scholarship
Several Entrance Scholarships are available for UWaterloo applicants who intend to declare a Music Major. A scholarship application is required to the Music Department. Applicants will be invited to campus in February/March for a campus tour, interview and opportunity to demonstrate to Faculty your musical experiences and interests (composition, or writing about music, or an audition, etc).
Successful students receive $12,000 over 4 years.
Music Specializations
You can also customize your degree by focusing on Performance, Composition, Cultural Context and Analysis, or Church Music and Worship. An Intensive Music Specialization can also be added on alone or with one on the previous list.
