Community Gamelan

Join the only Canadian Community Balinese Gamelan Music Ensemble with a teacher from Bali, Indonesia: Grebel/UWaterloo Artist-in-Residence I Dewa Made Suparta.  We are glad to announce that the Community Gamelan will take place in person in Winter 2023, in accordance with any updated pandemic guidelines from the University of Waterloo.

Do you want to play music, participate in a satisfying group music-making experience, and learn about another culture and its music at the same time? This is a rare and excellent opportunity!

You are invited to come experience a wonderful kind of collaborative learning and music-making on an ensemble of bronze instruments from the island of Bali. No previous experience with Gamelan or reading music is necessary. Come for a free trial. All are welcome!
