Noon Hour Concert: Low Pair

Commissioned for Winnipeg's New Music Festival in 2023, Parlour Games – a series of miniatures for cello and double bass – is anything but drab and dark. On the contrary, Canadian composer Michael Oesterle (b.1968) has filled these short movements with play and excitement. Not unlike a box of chocolates or a deck of cards: you’re never quite sure what you’re going to get.  

 The piece will be performed by bassist Ian Whitman and cellist Cathy Anderson, who will also be performing an additional piece of music by Zdenek Lukás (1928-2007).
