Noon Hour Concert: From Vienna to Seville

Musicians from the Magisterra soloists, led by Professor Annette Barbara Vogel of Western University, are a crowd favourite with local audiences.  This time they will be performing Beethoven's Opus 1 Trio and Turina's Trio no. 2.  Outwardly these pieces may seem dissimilar, but there are common elements.  Joaquín Turina deliberately incorporated Spanish folk rhythms into his works, while Ludwig van Beethoven had more of a classical Romantic and very German style.  Both used traditional forms (sonata, symphony, chamber music) but infused them with personal and national identity.
