KW Woodwind Quintet
The KW Woodwind Quintet members are well known to the local music community. This term the Quintet consists of the following players:
Wendy Wagler, flute
Trevor Wagler, horn
Sarah Cardwell, oboe
Barbara Hankins, clarinet
Oskar Martinez, bassoon
The pieces they will play are by French composers from the late 19th and early 20th Century, and all of them are connected to the Conservatoire de Paris either as teachers or students. Claude Debussy, Gabriel Pierné, and Paul Taffanel were part of the turn of the century French Renaissance movement. Debussy is more famous for his impressionistic piano and orchestra works, but he also wrote chamber pieces. Taffanel is known as the father of the modern French flute school. Pierné is known for his chamber and orchestral music.
