A Concert of the Global Mennonite Peacebuilding Conference and Festival, featuring choirs, gamelan, and an original composition titled “Earth Peace” by Carol Ann Weaver, Professor Emerita of Music.

Three amazing student musician Chamber groups perform a selection of classical music pieces.  Music will include the following:

Earth Peace, by Carol Ann Weaver, recently composed and compiled in South Africa and Namibia, tells global stories of conflict, pain, resolution and joy.  The work contains choral music, string quartet, and readings which represent various troubled parts of our world.

​Factory Arts String Quartet

This concert will explore chamber music repertoire by two Canadian composers: Seven Tableaux from the Song of Songs by Srul Irving Glick, and Selections from Trio, composed by Grebel alumna Erica de la Cruz, setting poetry by University of Waterloo Professor Sarah Tolmie.

The JUNO nominated Orchid Ensemble is Lan Tung on the erhu/Chinese violin, Xiao Mei Zhu on the zheng/Chinese zither, and Jonathan Bernard on percussion. The ensemble blends ancient musical instruments and traditions from China and beyond, creating a beautiful new sound. 

Jennifer Brimson Cooper and Mas Sugihara are an imaginative and intense duo that perform both original compositions for the sax and flute, as well as transcriptions of classical pieces. They have toured across the United States, and will be touring Canada this fall.  For for more information see their website:  The Awea Duo

Amy Waller Prince, a well-known local soprano, will be performing works from Verdi, Strauss, Dvorak, and Greer.  Ms. Prince recently received a Doctorate of Music from Indiana University.  She has performed many operatic roles, including Rosalind in Die Fledermaus, and Mabel in the Pirates of Penzance. 

Cynthia Hiebert has performed both traditional and contemporary harpsichord works in Canada, the United States and England.  This concert will feature works from the time of Shakespeare to Jimi Hendrix.
