Noon Hour Concert: Verdi, Strauss, Dvorak, & Greer

Amy Waller Prince, a well-known local soprano, will be performing works from Verdi, Strauss, Dvorak, and Greer.  Ms. Prince recently received a Doctorate of Music from Indiana University.  She has performed many operatic roles, including Rosalind in Die Fledermaus, and Mabel in the Pirates of Penzance

Whether singing an intimate ballad, performing an intricate fugue, creating stirring world beats, or wailing on a powerful rock anthem, award-winning singer/multi-instrumentalist Kevin Ramessar has a history of moving audiences.  This concert will be an eclectic programme featuring compositions by Domeniconi, Bach, and Joni Mitchell, along with improvised works and a tribute to Canadian icons The Tragically Hip. Kevin Ramessar regularly performs on Broadway, as well as being Grebel's guitar instructor.

UW Balinese Gamelan Ensemble

On the island of Bali, Indonesia there is a plethora of musical ensembles called gamelan, the local term for a set of instruments made primarily of bronze or bamboo. The UWaterloo Department of Music at Conrad Grebel University College is home to a gamelan semara dana consisting of bronze gongs and metallophones, drums, and bamboo flutes.
