Haydn: Lord Nelson Mass (also known as Mass in troubled times)
John Estacio: The houses stand not far apart (a Philharmonic commission)
Peteris Vasks: Dona nobis Pacem
All three works are beautiful in their own right, and transmit a message of hope for greater understanding and compassion in our communities and throughout the world. For this concert, Grand Philharmonic is paired with a number of schools across Waterloo Region to engage 1200 students in an art project that will be seen on stage and in the Centre in the Square lobby during the performance. The Hands of Peace project has asked students to think about what peace means in their own communities and lives. Their “Hands of Peace” will be displayed and their peace statements will be projected onto a screen in the concert hall before the concert and during intermission.
Tickets for the concert are available to friends of the choir, at a 20% discount by quoting the promo code: CHOIR at the box-office or online.
