Brian Lefresne

Dr. Brian J. Lefresne is an interdisciplinary scholar of jazz, performance, and archives whose work has appeared in Critical Studies in Improvisation, Callaloo, Black Grooves, the Journal for the Society of American Music, and Black Perspectives. He has presented at the annual meetings of the American Studies Association, the Canadian Association for American Studies, the International Society for Improvised Music, the Society for the Study of Southern Literature, and the Canadian Association for Postcolonial Studies. He has also served on the programming committee and presented at the Guelph Jazz Festival Colloquium. 

In addition to his teaching at Conrad Grebel College, Dr. Lefresne also teaches in the Communication Studies department at the University of Waterloo and is currently the President of the Board of Directors of the Guelph Jazz Festival.
