PACS Biweekly Newsletter - Dec. 4, 2019

Make-A-Difference Market is Christmas shopping fundraiser being hosted on December 7th 2019 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will consist of local and fair-trade vendors, a food and bake sale, a silent auction and live music performances.  

The Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) program at Grebel intentionally blends theory and practice. As with many professions, peace practitioners know that the theory behind any approach is only a part of successful work—theory must be put into practice.

Students Value Skills-based Workshops

Since 2011, both graduate and undergraduate PACS students have been able to register for a Conflict Management Certificate workshop for course credit (PACS 391). This learning experience epitomizes the definition of experiential education: application of theory and academic content to real-world experiences, combined with engagement and reflection.

Student Profile: Taylor Legere

Taylor Legere is a fourth year Arts and Business student with a major in PACS and a minor of Fine Arts. She originally came to Waterloo to pursue Arts and Business with a major in Psychology, but after taking PACS 201 Roots of Conflict, Violence, and Peace she knew she had to make the switch.

Student Profile: Margie McCloskey

For Margie McCloskey, the PACS program was love at first sight when she found it at the Waterloo Fall Open House. Shortly after beginning at Waterloo, she discovered a natural commonality in Political Science.

I always find that my Political Science comes back to PACS – Everything comes back to PACS
