Collaboration in the classroom

Enriching the learning experience for Pharmacy students

The University of Waterloo Library is at the heart of the University, providing essential access to distinctive collections, services and resources for everyone in the campus community and beyond. Library staff empower the creation, discovery, sharing and use of knowledge through research, teaching and community collaborations and partnerships.

Being able to formulate a research question and execute a literature search are critical skills in healthcare and pharmacy, given the abundance of new research published regularly and the duty to provide evidence-based care to patients.

To support students in learning these new skills, a collaboration for this assignment was proposed between Dr. Nakhla, professor at the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy, Sarah Fallis, the course’s teaching assistant, and Caitlin Carter, Waterloo Pharmacy subject librarian.

Nardine Nakhla. Empowering learning and research. This tag team truly optimized student outcomes and exemplified the power of interdisciplinary collaboration in education. Dr. Nakhla, professor, School of Pharmacy
