CSHP-OB Southwestern and Golden Horseshoe Residency Research Night
The School of Pharmacy had the pleasure of hosting the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists- Ontario Branch (CSHP-OB) Southwestern and Golden Horseshoe Chapters’ residency research night in a hybrid setting this past July.
“The location of our Residency Research Night alternates among the programs that offer pharmacy residencies. Waterloo School of Pharmacy stepped up to host this event for the first time, and they did not disappoint!” says Marisa Ramandt, CSHP-OB Southwestern Chapter Co-Chair.
This annual event invites residents from across our local chapters to showcase the hard work and long hours they have dedicated to their research projects over the course of their residency year.
This year residents, staff and faculty, preceptors, CSHP chapter members, current Waterloo Pharmacy students and pharmacists from across the region were all in attendance. Thirteen residents presented their research findings on a diverse range of topics and Barbara Coulston, who helped organize the event, spoke of its importance, “while this event highlighted how they spent their residency and how important their research is, it also shone a light on how well they speak and how incredibly they present.”
The list of Waterloo School of Pharmacy Presenters is as follows:
- Jace Hui- Hamilton Health Sciences
- Sally Thai- Hamilton Health Sciences
- Madeline Pugi- St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton
- Sarah Tessier- London Health Sciences Centre
- Reem Abaza- London Health Sciences Centre
- Laura Morrison (Our current resident at CFFM)
Barbara also mentioned how grateful they were that the School of Pharmacy had the opportunity to host the event, expressing how truly wonderful it was to have students in-person networking again for the first time in two years. For our students’ collaborative partnerships such as these provide incredible value in expanding their networking ecosystem.
“I am proud of our 2022 Residency Research Night for many reasons - the seamless collaboration between CSHP-OB Southwestern Chapter and the Waterloo School of Pharmacy, the high caliber research projects presented by our residents, and the outpouring of interest and support from the pharmacy community who attended the event,” says Marisa Ramandt. “This year also marked our chapter's first virtual and in-person hybrid residency night, and it couldn't have gone better! I would like to thank the residents, evaluators, and attendees for their contributions to, and support of, this year's event.”
