On March 3 the Waterloo Pharmacy hockey team won the tenth annual Ontario Pharmacists Association (OPA) Cup. The OPA Cup is awarded to the winner of an annual hockey game that pits teams from Ontario’s two pharmacy schools against each other.

This year’s game was tight, with loyal fans from both schools cheering teams on. Waterloo Pharmacy won with an impressive 4-2 score. Three goals were scored by Sam Dubinsky (Rx2019), and one was scored by Mike Harris (Rx2021). For his accomplishments, Sam Dubinsky (below, with Hallman Director Dave Edwards) was named the 2018 MVP.

The annual face off with the University of Toronto Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy is one of several events students organize during Pharmacist Awareness Month. The event has been supported by OPA since its inception.

“The Ontario Pharmacists Association’s support over the last ten years has made this annual game a highlight of the year for pharmacy students,” says Louis Wei, the OPA Cup Planning Committee Chair at Waterloo Pharmacy.  “We’re grateful to OPA for their ongoing support of this friendly competition.”
