Waterloo Pharmacy scores OPA cup after a highly competitive match
On Sunday March 31, Waterloo Pharmacy’s hockey team and loyal fans travelled to Toronto for the Ontario Pharmacists Association (OPA) Cup. The annual face off against the University of Toronto Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy is one of several events students organize during Pharmacist Awareness Month and is an exciting tradition that pits Ontario’s only pharmacy schools against each other in a battle for the coveted OPA Cup.
The game was the closest match in years. At 5-5, the match went into overtime with Waterloo Pharmacy scoring another goal for a final score of 6-5 for Waterloo. Two goals were scored by Joey Champigny and Brad Grightmire, with additional goals scored by Kurtis Gosnell and Samuel Dubinsky. Joey Champigny’s amazing playing was recognized with MVP Award, marking Joey’s second time earning this distinction.
Congratulations to both players and organizers for making the event such a success! The School of Pharmacy is grateful to the Ontario Pharmacist's Association for their on-going support of this fun event.
