We are approaching the close of the first phase of the strategic planning process: the Strategic Planning Committee has reviewed the current mission, vision and values; conducted the environmental scan; and is developing draft strategic priorities.
We are preparing for the Strategic Planning Retreat on May 1 where faculty, staff, students, and alumni will have a chance to provide input on the School’s strategic priorities. We are on schedule to have a finalized Strategic Plan ready for dissemination by the end of the year.
The following is an update of the strategic planning process as of April 2019:
Environmental scan
Surveys
Strategic planning surveys were sent to faculty, staff, and graduate and undergraduate students on February 11, 2019. The average response rate across these groups is 45%. A SWOT analysis of the survey results will be presented at the Strategic Planning Retreat.
Stakeholder consultation
Round tables with various stakeholders were held to solicit input on the School from experiential education partners, continuing professional development partners, and alumni.
Consultant Diana Royce conducted 13 key informant interviews with stakeholders from the academic, government, professional organization, and health care sectors.
Mission, Vision, Values
The Strategic Planning Committee will recommend minor modifications to the School’s mission, vision, and values statements. These modifications will be discussed at the Strategic Planning Retreat.
Strategic Priorities
The Strategic Planning Committee will also recommend strategic priorities for the School under the following categories:
- Undergraduate Education
- Graduate Education
- Research
- Service and Outreach
- Enabling Excellence
- Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
You will have an opportunity to provide feedback on these priorities at the Strategic Planning Retreat.
Strategic Planning Retreat
When: May 1st from 8:30AM to 4:30PM
Where: Walper Hotel, 20 Queen Street South, Kitchener, in the Crystal Ballroom
What: A review of findings from the strategic planning survey, active discussion of the strategic priorities, and re-confirmation of the Mission, Vision and Values. Meals will be provided.
