The CTE has published its latest Teaching Story profiling Brian Forrest, Professor of Pure Mathematics, who aligns learning outcomes, assessment, and instruction in his online and on-campus courses. The Department of Pure Mathematics honoured the 2016 Undergraduate Award winners at a special Pure Math Tea on Monday, July 25th.  Congratulations to Jimmy He, winner of the Math Faculty Jesse Zhou award, John Sardo winner of the Kelland Award, Kevin Matthews, winner of the Berenbeim Memorial Scholarship.  Shouzhen Gu and Lirong Yang were both winners of the 2016 Pure Mathematics Department Silver Award and Mohamed El Alami and Jason Lynch shared the 2016 Pure Mathematics Department Undergraduate Researc

Ruxandra Moraru has been awarded a 2016 Faculty of Mathematics Award for Distinction in Teaching!

Professor Emeritus Frank Zorzitto was awarded the Honorary Member of the University designation at the Spring 2016 convocation for his extraordinary administrative service to the university. Frank served as the Pure Mathematics Department Chair for over 11 years and has also served on the Senate, the Board of Governors and the FAUW executive.

Harvard University's Gerhard Gade University Professor Barry Mazur was granted an Honorary Doctor of Mathematics at the June 2016 convocation.

Congratulations to BMath alumnus Jimmy He for winning the fifth annual Jessie W.H. Zou Memorial Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research! Jimmy, who graduated with a double-honours degree in Pure Mathematics and Statistics in June 2016, was nominated by his undergraduate research assistantship supervisor, Kathryn Hare.
