Pension Information Session: June 22, 2026
UWRA members are invited to attend an upcoming information session on Waterloo’s pension and the exploration of the University Pension Plan (UPP).
The University of Waterloo is currently exploring the possibility of converting its Registered Pension Plan (RPP) to the UPP, a jointly sponsored pension plan for Ontario’s university sector. No decision has been made, and member engagement is a key part of this exploration.

Time: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Format: In person (Humanities Theatre) or virtual
The session will include:
- Pension fundamentals, including Waterloo’s current RPP
- Why the University is exploring a conversion to UPP
- An overview of UPP and how it compares to Waterloo’s RPP
- What a potential conversion process could involve
Retiree note: The session is open to retirees, and the information shared will be relevant to retired members, as well as active employees. Retirees are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and share their perspectives.
