Assistant Professor

Professor Hamed ShahsavanProfessor Hamed Shahsavan is an expert on the development of soft and programmable materials and their applications in the design and fabrication of mobile soft robots, functional devices, and artificial biological organisms.

With a multidisciplinary approach, his team utilizes molecular engineering, chemistry, materials science, and micro/nanotechnology to create smart materials with programmable properties and responses to external cues such as heat, light, electrical, and magnetic fields. Professor Shahsavan's team aims to address particular sets of challenges in the design and development of small-scale, bioinspired soft robots with a focus on three main research directions: 1) Development of Smart Materials, 2) Small-scale Fabrication and Assembly, and 3) Responsive Soft Robots and Devices.

See Professor Shahsavan's faculty profile or the SMART Lab website for more details about his work outside the RoboHub.
