Professor Kerstin Dautenhahn is the Canada Research Chair in Socially Intelligent Robotics, and has pioneered research in social robotics, human-robot interaction, and assistive robotics.
In the RoboHub, Professor Dautenhahn investigates the development of companion robots. Companion robots are intelligent and autonomous robots that are able to assist people, i.e., carry out certain useful tasks with or alongside people, but are doing so in a manner that is socially acceptable and trustworthy. The goal is to develop social and intelligent companion robots that can support people in daily living activities or assist in therapeutic or educational application contexts.
See Professor Dautenhahn's faculty profile and lab website for more details about her work outside RoboHub.
