Congratulations to Kwaku Owusu Twum for winning Fall 2023 Velocity Pitch competition on November 30th, 2023.
Out of 109 student entrepreneurs, 24 were selected for the semi-finals and Kwaku was one of the four finalists to receive $5,000. His winning project Mapmate is a SaaS-based platform that enables food processors to seamlessly connect to small farmers. Small farmers are major players in the global food system and yet suffer low revenue.
Mapmate is setting the pace of allowing food manufacturers to closely link with these farmers, trace their operations, and support them with resources. In turn, it encourages them to source responsibly, earn consumer trust, and become compliant with international standards. It equally empowers the farmers to receive visibility, open market, and training to be more responsible and sustainable in their farming practices.
