The School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED) was proud to feature Environment and Business (EB) student projects as part of the inaugural Environment Capstone Symposium, a faculty‑wide celebration of experiential, solutions‑oriented learning. EB capstone work is delivered through ENBUS 409 (formerly ENBUS 402), an eight‑month sequence that enables students to apply business and sustainability knowledge to real‑world challenges in collaboration with external partners.
Working in teams of four to five, students partnered with organizations to address applied problems at the intersection of enterprise, environment, and society. As part of the symposium, each team presented its findings in a poster showcase, engaging with faculty members, alumni, and sustainability professionals who evaluated projects based on the clarity of analysis, integration of concepts, and demonstrated impact.
As part of the inaugural Environment Capstone Symposium, ENBUS 409 students partnered with a range of campus and external organizations, including the University Pension Plan (UPP), the University of Waterloo Sustainability Office, and mission‑driven enterprises such as Carmico. Projects addressed applied challenges spanning supply‑chain emissions, sustainable food systems, circular economy initiatives, low‑carbon investment, and responsible AI infrastructure planning, reflecting Environment and Business’s focus on applied sustainability, policy relevance, and institutional impact.
