Tanisha Ghorpade, a 2nd year Environment and Business student, is the Founder and President of Green In You. Created in 2019 with team members Srishti Malaviya and Aarti Jain, Green In You promotes and enables fashion consumerism by hosting yearly pop-up sales. The goal is to provide an avenue for conscious individuals to indulge in sustainable fashion and lifestyle products.

The company staged its first sustainable fashion show/sale with donations from the city of Pune, India; a collection of over 3000 second-hand clothing, music, snacks and lighting. An up-cycled workshop with in-house photo booth enabled the team to network and formulate new ideals and goals. The aim of the team was to conceive a youth community that could cultivate social capital and bring about positive environmental change.

In September 2020, the team decided to shift their efforts towards the issue of giving clothing and items a second

market
chance. This idea helped in their goal for sustainable fashion, but did not address the bigger question of what happens to clothing after its second chance. The team believed that clothing waste management needed some serious reformation and they decided to tackle this challenge!

Tanisha and her team decided to move forward with their ideas by participating in pitch competitions such as the Quantum Valley Investments Problem competition. They were able to map out the crux of the issue in the industry and landed a seventh place finish in the semi-finals.

Following four months of identifying and tackling the industry’s bottlenecks, the team decided to take part in St. Paul’s GreenHouse’s Social Impact Fund. Green In You’s business model pitch subsequently won the People’s Choice Award, which has given the team the first-ever funding to propel their efforts further!
